I thought I’d have a crack at restoring my Silver Shadow. After a full strip down I ground the old paint off the frames using a rotary miniature sander, this takes off all the coin chips and corrosion. I primed each frame sprayed silver and then clear lacquered. The lamp looms complete with bulbs, reels, back board and all pipe work, including manifolds went straight in the dishwasher. (Recommend 50 degree quick wash, not the 65 degree full wash I used as I did get slight warping on one reel band). I hung the loom out on the washing line to dry. I didn’t do the switch loom because I didn’t want water in the switches. The back board came out great and 25 years of grime is now long gone. The inner frames were lightly sanded and spray black. The inside and outside of the cab was just plain old elbow grease. I stuck the T mould back where it had come away and that was about it to be honest.
