I did go a bit strong on the curves, so the cherries are a bit psychedelic.

Working on the  grapes only one grape came out clearly, the base fruit and grape 4 need to be rebuilt.

The first few hours are amazingly frustrating, you know what you want to do, but you just can't make photoshop do it. After completing the work on the grapes (I used Exchanges Galore for a Grape) and lemon 3, I've started putting band 1 together.

Spacing is the next critical thing, but I think I've got that right now after a lot of trial and error? I thought the correct measurements were 25mm fruit boxes with 1mm between each box. But that proved not to be the case in reality, a minute tweak was necessary to get the symbols to run correctly. Even now I'm not 100% sure it's correct?

Working from the band from the emulator, I've created my first complete reel band.

Two more to do. (not sure about the colour of my triple bar either??) On the glass it’s purple so mine is purple, on the emulator the triple bar is orange??

All three bands are now finished in white. I actually quite like the white. The gold on RD bands is very subtle, I actually prefer the more glittery finish on Golden Award, to be honest.

Target Spacing...

I was checking sizes again last night. It didn't help not having a decent steel ruler to check the measurements. I had set the band width to 35mm, but having looked again it could actually be 36mm. I need to buy a decent ruler.

Again, the width is critical. Too wide and they won't fit in the reel space and too narrow and you could get movement side to side.

All being well, I could be printing them off this week.

Again, thanks to Launton for sending me 3 blank EPROMS.

Anyway, update, I've spoken with the boss and I can print off the reel bands here, so it's whenever I'm ready really. He did say that the ink from the high res. inkjet proofer would not be water resistant which would mean that the bands could never be cleaned with water, but he did suggest UV varnishing the sheet which I will do. It will make the bands very glossy indeed, but it will also make them water resistant which means they could be wiped over in the future.

I'll do three sets up together, so if I mess up when attaching to the drum, I'll have some spares.

The next stage is to attach the bands to a blank set of spare reel drums.

Reworking the artwork for the reel bands was very time consuming and took some considerable time.

Continue to the next part of the project.
